Description:
"Moderating Inspections" instructs prospective Inspection Moderators in conducting inspections. The fundamental steps of Fagan-style Inspections are reviewed to ensure everyone is using the same vocabulary. A generic Inspections Policy statement is examined to ensure common understanding of the purpose and goals of Inspections. The principle of 'safe environment' is discussed. Participants will learn to identify and control undesirable behavior to ensure effective inspections. The Moderator's role and responsibilities for each of the procedures are described and discussed. The SEI Inspections video is reviewed with emphasis on the Moderator's role.
The benefits of an Inspections program can be maximized not just by collecting data, but by making use of the data gathered. Data collection forms and data types are studied. A complete set of forms templates are included with the course. To get an organization started, typical industry standard data is provided. This helps participants estimate the duration and gauge the progress of each inspection.
Prospective moderators will learn to identify risks to successful inspections and how to mitigate those risks.
